Strengthening oversight cooperation was a central focus of the talks between the First President of the Court of Accounts and her Chadian counterpart.
Ms. Zineb El Adaoui, First President of the Court of Accounts, held talks with Ms. Zara Ibrahim Mahamat Itno, President of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Chad, accompanied by a high-level delegation. Held as part of a series of high-level meetings on the sidelines of the 62nd session of the Executive Board of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI), the meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to share their expertise and best practices in light of the longstanding ties between the two countries.
On this occasion, the First President outlined the Court of Accounts’ jurisdictional and non- jurisdictional mandates and functions. She also elaborated on the Court’s integrated approach underpinning its oversight missions. She also highlighted the mandate entrusted to the Court, as enshrined in the 2011 Constitution, particularly with respect to the certification of the State’s accounts, mandatory asset declaration, and auditing of political parties’ accounts.
For her part, Ms. Zara Ibrahim Mahamat Itno expressed her interest in fostering bilateral cooperation between the two institutions, with a view to reinforce judicial oversight mechanisms and strengthening institutional capacity building, by drawing on the distinguished expertise of the Court of Accounts in public finance oversight.
The two parties sought out venues to strengthen judicial cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Chad, as well as coordinating efforts across the full spectrum of public finance oversight, with a view to advance the shared interests of both nations.
