Bolstering good governance in Africa: The Court of Account hosts the proceedings of the 62nd AFROSAI Governing Board Meeting
The Court of Accounts, is hosting the proceedings of the 62nd meeting of the Governing Board of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI), on July 9-10, 2025. This high-level meeting brings together presidents and delegates of 22 Supreme Audit Institutions of African countries, members of the Organization.
In her opening statement on this occasion, Ms. Zineb El Adaoui, the First President of Morocco’s Court of Accounts, affirmed that convening this Meeting is a tremendous platform for constructive dialogue and exchanging insights among Africa’s Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) to chart a shared course towards collective progress, level up professionalism, and reinforce the instrumental role of SAIs to foster good governance in the public sector across Africa to realize economic and social development for the peoples of Africa.
The First President underscored the steadfast commitment of the Court of Accounts, in its capacity as the Secretary General of AFROSAI, to fully carry out its mandate, to support the Organization’s evolution trajectory, underpinned by values of consultation, pursuit of excellence, and fraternal spirit. She also reiterated her ironclad resolve to work in tandem with the organization’s Presidency, all members and stakeholders alike to elevate AFROSAI to the ranks of exemplary organizations in INTOSAI’s society.
For his part, Mr. Khaled Ahmed Shakshak, President of the Libyan Audit Bureau and Chair of AFROSAI, commended the significant efforts made by the Court of Accounts to ensure the success of this Meeting. He further affirmed his commitment, in his capacity as Chair of the Organization and in coordination with its General Secretariat, to addressing all issues of common interest and to working at all levels to support and advance the development of AFROSAI.
This Meeting focuses on discussing and adopting the reports prepared by the Presidency of the Executive Board of the Organization, along with those of the current and outgoing General Secretariats. It further encompasses the review of reports prepared by the Organization’s Technical and Institutional Capacity Building Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, and the Editorial Board of the African Journal of Comprehensive Auditing. The Meeting includes laying out their strategic priorities for the forthcoming phase and discussing development proposals relevant to the Organization’s work. It also includes the organization of the handover ceremony between the current and the outgoing general secretariats.
It is worth noting that the Court of Accounts serves as the General Secretariat of AFROSAI, and it has been hosting its permanent headquarters in Rabat. since December 2024.
