This will contribute to the development of oversight methods and support for related public policies, while bolstering their role in this area international.

In her address, the First President, Zineb El Adaoui, commended the working group’s efforts in capacity building for Supreme Audit Institutions, developing oversight methods pertaining to the SDGs, and promoting convergence in the application of international standards across member institutions. She emphasized that this collective momentum embodies a shared commitment to enhancing the quality and effectiveness of oversight internationally, thereby bolstering its impact on the implementation of the SDGs.

The First President also underscored that SAIs are at a strategic turning point, particularly in the context of the post-2030 agenda. This era calls for turning development ambitions into tangible achievements to improve citizens’ living conditions. She noted that the Kingdom of Morocco has already initiated work on the second generation of integrated development programs, with His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist Him, issued high instructions to ensure these programs are structured to deliver direct benefits to citizens. This includes establishing effective mechanisms for audit, monitoring and concurrent oversight to optimize their implementation.

The First President stressed the importance of leveraging the lessons learned from a decade of SDG monitoring. She highlighted that consolidating independence, adopting a systemic approach to auditing, embracing digital foresight tools and upskilling auditors to address complex environments are all instrumental to enhancing the impact of oversight on development policies and ensure their continued support in the years ahead.

In his remarks, Mr. Dmitry Zaitsev, Head WGSDG KSDI Secretariat, emphasized the significance of collective platforms, particularly the INTOSAI working group dedicated to the SDGs and key sustainable development indicators. These platforms foster the exchange of experiences and the creation of shared knowledge bases to serve the INTOSAI community.

It is worth noting that the Court of Accounts has undertaken a series of oversight missions in relevant areas, the results of which have added significant value, demonstrating the effectiveness of oversight in addressing current challenges.
