Signing of the Headquarters Agreement Establishing the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI) in the Kingdom of Morocco

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, a headquarters agreement was signed, under which the Kingdom of Morocco will host the headquarters of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI). The agreement was signed by Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, and Ms. Zineb El Adaoui, Secretary General of AFROSAI and First President of the Court of Accounts. This agreement outlines the operational framework for the organization within the Kingdom, its commitments, and the privileges granted to its main headquarters.

The signing of this agreement follows the election of the Court of Accounts of the Kingdom of Morocco as the Secretary General and host institution for the permanent headquarters of AFROSAI, which took place during the organization’s General Assembly held in Tripoli, Libya, from December 4 to 6, 2024.

This agreement further strengthens the Court of Accounts’ ability to foster closer cooperation with its African counterparts, in keeping with the forward-thinking vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. It also reaffirms the Kingdom’s enduring commitment to advancing South-South cooperation in all sectors, ensuring it remains a fundamental priority.

Through this cooperation, the performance of audit institutions will be enhanced, institutional and professional capacities will be strengthened, and the ongoing cooperation between African supreme audit institutions will be solidified. It will also contribute to the establishment of strong institutions that champion transparency and good governance, enabling a more effective response to the needs of the people and facilitating long-term social and economic development across the continent.
